THE WEST HIGHLAND WAY starts on the outskirts of Glasgow and finishes in Fort William taking in some of Scotland’s finest and most varied scenery’. We travel along the banks of Loch Lomond in the shadow of Ben Lomond, skirt the vast Rannoch moor and move through Glencoe, scene of the bloody massacre. Then it’s the long haul up the Devil’s staircase and over to Kinlochleven; on to Glen Nevis under Scotland’s highest mountain, and your journey’s end at Fort William. I loved this walk, and no, I did not have access to a helicopter. Honest.
